Mr Evans Hayes, aka "Jug Head", was born to the late Eddie Lee Hayes and Sarah Jane Walker on June 11,1937 in Albany GA. He and his family moved to Camilla GA, where he grew up. He moved to Gainesville Fl in 1958, where he lived for several years. He later relocated to Chiefland Fl, where he resided until his death. Evan worked for the Department of Transportation in Gainesville Fl. He later transferred to Chiefland Fl until his retirement. He loved going fishing and spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. You can always find him sitting on the porch, with his little poodle, "Missy Kat" studying his bible. He was a faithful member at St Johns Missionary Baptist Church in Chiefland FL, where he served a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. George Jones Jr. Evan departed this earthly realm on Monday December 7,2020 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Lee Hayes and Sarah Jane Walker, his son: Darrell Evans Holmes. 4 brothers: Jessie Hayes, Nathaniel Hayes, Eddie Hayes Jr, Wilie Hayes. 3 Sisters: Emma Holley, Mattie Owens and Beaulah Johnson. Evans leaves to cherish his memories 2 daughters: Mary C Buggs, Gainesville Fl, Jackie Hodge, Jacksonville Fl. 4 Stepchildren: Kay Hogan, Chiefland Fl, Wanda Bryant, of Virginia, Neil Bryant, Clifford Bryant (Liz) both of Gainesville Fl; 4 Sisters: Louise Hayes, Mattie C. Carr (Charlie), Sarah Mingo (Dennis) and Eddie Mae McClain all of Camilla GA. 19 grandchildren, 11 great grands, 2 great-great grands and a special friend: Louise Strong, Chiefland Fl
Services will be held Sunday, December 20th,2020 11:00am Oak View Cemetery Camilla Ga. Viewing will be held Friday December 18th 2020 3:00pm-5:00pm at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church Chiefland Fl.
Visitation will also be Saturday December 19,2020 at Nathaniel Thomas & Sons Homes for Funeral 3pm-5pm (1703 Old Pelham Rd, Pelham GA 31779)
