Essie Mae (McCray) Anderson, resident of Newberry FL, was born in the month of January in Lake City, FL. to the late Gus and Delia McCray.
Essie attended Lincoln High School, worked and retired from the University of Florida as a supervisor in the Physical Plant division with over 30 years of service, she was an active board member of The AFSCME where she served as president. Her biggest accomplishment, was being an active member of Compassionate Outreach Ministries for over 25 years.
Essie was affectionately known for traveling, dancing and listening to her music. She was a DIE HARD GATOR fan as everyone knew. Her office and car was decorated in orange and blue with tons of Gator accessories. Her known motto was “I’m Gator born and Gator Fed and when I die I’ll be Gator Dead”!
Essie precious memories will live on in the hearts and minds of her six children; Janet McCray Williams (Earnest), Sharon McCray Curtis, Cleve Anderson, Kenneth Dale Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Rita Anderson Williams (Jeffrey) and Davious Freeman. Her loving sisters: Alberta Hopkins-Walls and Annie Pearl McCray. 22 Grandchildren, 37 great-grands, 2 great great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
