Charles "Chuck" York

Charles “Chuck” York, beloved husband, father, son, and grandfather passed away suddenly on December 4, from complications due to an illness. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Donna York; children, Megan York and Kyle York; mother Phyllis Dronet; and granddaughter, Shelby York. Surviving siblings include Michael John Brewer, Ronald Wayne Brewer (Samantha), and Jessica Leah Stubblefield (Patrick). Chuck’s beloved sister, Carol Ann York, pre-deceased him many years ago.

A former Marine, Chuck was the quiet strength and foundation of his family. His devotion to his wife Donna was unbounded, still being madly in love with her after 26 years. Chuck and Donna spent every waking moment together and never tired of each other’s company. They were an unbreakable unit.

Chuck did everything for his wife and her family, even taking care of his sick mother-in-law. He did it out of true compassion without any expectation or need for praise. He was a kind and patient father, always there to provide encouragement, being an unwavering cornerstone for his children. He was a generous and dutiful son, who loved computers growing up, was always busy and productive, never causing any trouble, even as a teenager, and was the bedrock for his kind and wonderful mother.

Chuck loved his cat Jasmine who he rescued as a kitten from the side of the road. He loved football and NASCAR. He was a movie buff and pretty much knew every movie ever made. He loved the mountains, RVing with his wife, visiting state and national parks and historical sites, going to the beach, and collecting die-cast cars and Coca Cola memorabilia. 

A great protector and a true gentleman, Chuck was the best of us.

A private interment at Newberry Community Cemetery will take place on December 27. Flowers can be sent to D. Williams Mortuary Services by December 26. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Chuck York’s name can also be made to the Humane Society of North Central Florida:
